Welcome to MECA!

MECA is the Mobile Electronics Competition Association, a club and contest organization.  We have car shows with music, fair and fun contests for people who love cars and trucks and the mobile electronics, and bling, that are used to customize our rides.  Competive car/truck/motorcycle exhibitions with our Show & Shine score sheet are offered at most events.  Our Sound Quality League and Sound Pressure League contests are designed for all levels of competitors, beginner to advanced professional.  Ride the Light specialty lighting contests are great night-time events.  MECA Kids is our bass music contest using powerwheels toys with our MECA Kids operating the audio systems

Join us for our 15th season of car show and sound-off events.  Our 2013 Event/Show Schedule is building now, and most events aren't listed until April or later.  Some events pop up 3-4 weeks before, but we try to get the dates organized and confirmed as soon as we can.

MECA is part of, and serves, the Mobile Electronics, or 12 Volt, Industry.  MECA is an Allied Association of the Consumer Electronics Association www.ce.org and works to promote our Manufacturer and Retail Members with cost-effective, grassroots, partnership/sponsorship programs.

Winning at MECA contests is based on performance in the lanes, not products, politics, or personalities.  Everyone is invited to participate in our club and contest activities.  MECA State Champion credentials earn bragging rights, and our World Champions are recognized among the most accomplished competitors in organized car audio sports.

Thanks to our Competitors, Judges, FansRetail Members, and Manufacturer Members for all the support and participation that brings us together.

July 2011 Member of the Month - Robert Perry (Audio X/Zapco) - AL

Robert Petty (Team Audio X), Tuscaloosa, AL

Congratulations to Robert Petty (Team Audio X) from Tuscaloosa, AL for his selection as our July 2011 Member of the Month.  Robert has 2 SQL World Championships under his belt:  2008 Amateur SQ and 2009 Modified SQ.  He earned the SQ Best of Show award at The Vinny and has always dedicated his vehicle and system to Sound Quality League contests.

Robert represents excellence in competition and part of that is good sportsmanship and teamwork.  Part of Team Audio X, his installation and tuning are major reasons he has been successful in our SQL contests.  Robert demonstrates great enthusiasm and great results at our events, and he is a most worthy July 2011 Member of the Month.

Robert had the following to say about being chosen MOTM:

I am honored to be the MECA member of the month. I know my car would not be near what it is now if it weren't for attending the shows, getting top notch judges in the car, and meeting people with the same passion for music that I have. Thank you and the judges for doing what you do. I also have to give a big thanks to Steve Cook of Audio X for his amazing install work on the car, and to Andy Jones for taking the time to help a new guy several years ago as well as talking me into going to that first show. Thanks again to all of MECA.

June 2011 Member of the Month - Donovin Gleason (Team Southside) - OH

Donovin had the following to say about being chosen MOTM:

I'm honored to be the June MOTM.  Over the past 14 months, I've developed quite the love affair with MECA.  I love how the organization seeks to recognize everything in the mobile electronics industry from audio to multimedia/video to lighting and accesories and even overall vehicle appearance and maintenance.  As a retailer and competitor, I especially enjoy the BOBOS challenge which I feel best explains the challenge customer's present South Side Audio with daily:  make it loud (SPL); make it safe, functional, and visually appealing (Install);  make it sound good (SQ); and did I mention, "make it LOUD" (SPL!!!!).  So for the last 14 months, I've been competiting in BOBOS, learning more about my vehicle/install, and learning more about "good sound" in general.  It's been a pleasure interacting with the judges who take so much of their time and effort to not only judge our vehicles, but also provide useful, insightful feedback on their likes/dislikes and opportunities for improvement.  It's also great to be able to show-off your hard work at a venue where all the competitors and spectators are respectful of your vehicle and hard work put into it.

Additionally, having a series of MECA events at our store has really helped stir up some excitement about car audio and good sound.

And by the way, the MECA Kids format is just awesome! :-)

Again, thanks.  And I look forward to meeting and interacting with more competitors and judges.  BOBOS challenges can have me a little bit on edge during the earlier part of the day. But usually by the time Park & Pound gets rolling, I'm relaxed and ready to chit chat!

May 2011 Member of the Month - Adam Axline - Winchester, VA

March 2011 Member of the Month - Jorge Delgado (Team Arc Audio/JBL) - Port Richey FL

Congratulations to Jorge Delgado (Team Arc Audio/JBL) from Port Richey, FL for his selection as our March 2011 Member of the Month.

Jorge has been a Member since 2006, and is one of the faithful SQL Competitors in Florida, a state where MECA has not had a lot of events recently. But, Jorge has traveled to get his points, and was the SQL FL Modex Champ in 2009 and 2010. At the last 2 World Finals Soundfests, competing in Modex SQ, Jorge finished 2nd in 2009 and 5th in 2010.

Involved in a critical accident at work on a construction site 1 month after the 2010 Finals, Jorge has been recovering and rehabing. One of his goals after the accident was to get his 2006 Dodge Charger, and himself, to Spring Break Nationals 25, and he made it. A lot of people were glad to see him and he was feelin' the love all weekend. :)

We honor Jorge for his participation in our SQL contests and good sportsmanship. His passion for what we do is evident and contagious. He sets the bar really high when it comes to dedication and perseverance, and he is a most worthy Member of the Month.

He brings experience and real-world knowledge to every contest and represents the best in MECA SPL Competitors.
