MECA’s 2012 sound-off season is off to a fast start. A new MECA/12voltnews.com project is designed to build on the organization’s early momentum.
“Steve Stern has a real passion for the 12-volt industry. His vision for MECA is all about the music. Through MECA’s network of Event Directors and Retail store members across the U.S. the organization is promoting the 12-volt industry. Sound-offs and car club events are an ideal forum to engage enthusiasts. Many of those young enthusiasts are smartphone users who regularly scan QR Codes. 12voltnews.com has been utilizing QR Codes in a number of ways over the past couple of years. We feel MECA events offer an exciting venue to showcase the power of QR Codes and have put this project in place with the Commish” Mike Van Horn stated for 12voltnews.com.
High gloss 5×7 cards, carrying the MECA message and a QR Code on both sides, have been developed. These cards will be distributed by MECA Retail Members prior to, and at store level, events.
The QR Code on the 5×7 card links to a fast paced video that features images from MECA events and cool installations. A driving BassMekanik soundtrack enhances the high energy video segment.
“At MECA we are so happy to put this new QR Code initiative in place. We see QR Codes in so many places and see enthusiasts at our events are using smartphones. Utilizing this new technology to engage with consumers and working with Mike at 12voltnews.com is an exciting opportunity for the entire MECA organization” MECA Commish Steve Stern stated.

For those concerned about events in their area, and Gas Prices: We need all the pieces of the puzzle to fit, to make events happen in your area. We need Judges to work at the events, and we need Hosts and Sponsors to help with event sites, local promotion, and paying for awards. Without hosts and sponsors, there can be no events. If you would like to have MECA events closer to home, please contact the Commissioner with contact information on people who may be interested in helping to organize, promote, and fund the events. Or, have them get in touch at: 615-851-7428 or mecacaraudio@comcast.net When you see MECA events in new areas, it is becauae there are Members helping to recruit and organize people to do the work it takes to put on good events. Not having events in your area is the problem. You can be part of the solution (to quote Michael Earl). Help us help you have events. That's the way it works. Thanks.

MECA is the Mobile Electronics Competition Association. We're fun and we're fair, and we love to get loud and sound good! We focus on car audio sports, including Sound Pressure League and Sound Quality League Competitions, our famous Park 'N Pound competition (where we do it from 6 feet away) and Show 'N Shine (because sometimes guys DO like the bling).
MECA's Commissioner is Steve Stern and he is supported by a Rules and Ethics Committee made up of competitors, judges and industry professionals. With members all over the US, Trinidad, Tobago, Panama and other places in the Caribbean, there's something for everyone. Come in and bask in the glow of warm alternators and warm tonality.
