Another SPL street question. Is it legal for me to mount my fuseblock in the bed as long as it's technically within 18" of the amp? There will be 2 layers of sheetmetal between it, but if you were to measure out the distance between the fuseblock and the first amp it would be less than 18". The ICA as stated in the rules applies to the subwoofer(s), amplifier(s), and enclosure. Nothing about the fuseblock. Trying to figure out my limitations here, of which there are many. I am thinking it would be hard to follow this rule with 2 layers of sheetmetal in the way.
In-line fuse(s), fuse holder(s), and/or power wire(s) leading from fuse holder(s) to subwoofer amplifier(s) may not be obstructed and must be fully accessible for verification.

It would be fully accessible in the bed of the truck, and the wiring would be seen running from the block, through the bed and cab walls, and into the amps. Edited by user Wednesday, July 06, 2011 8:02:21 PM(UTC)

Its the length of wire that needs to be 18" not the physical placement of the fuse block. I don't see it being an issue as long as it can be verified.

Incorrect. The length of the wire is irrelevant. Reason being is that in some cases it's impossible for the block to be 18" from EVERY amp. The fuseblock just has to physically be within 18" of one of the amps. |

1 wire Tommy not all of them. It's much easier to make sure your legal then wait til finals and that be an issue. Anybody can buy a few amps and put them within 18in and use 50ft power wire for each amp.

One wire would be under 18" in length. Anybody who uses 50 feet of power wire is an idiot anyways. This is why I'm asking questions now so I know I'm legal for finals. |
