Hi all...I saw that there hasn't been a post in here in 8 months so I wanted to post up. I'm going to be hanging out in the forums, so if anyone has questions or issues for Steve or other staff, feel free to post up and I'll help make sure it gets seen on the quick.

Later!

Hi Aarian

I'm not sure what the best stage I've ever heard was, but I can tell you what one made the biggest impression on me. In the 80's I was working at Custom Car Sound in Northampton, MA...I was 19 I think. I was buddies with some of the guys from other shops, and one shop had a guy who was working on amp designs with a/d/s. He had a car...Jetta maybe? I forget... Anyway, it was the first time I'd heard custom kicks w/ components. I think I remember that the drivers were MB Quart, but could have been Boston Acoustics (both heavy SQ hitters in the 80's), and the amp was an a/d/s running in 3 ch. mode with a small sub, and that was it. I'd never heard a system image like that, and I had no idea that speakers mounted so low in the car could produce such a high and wide stage.

Sorry I don't know more detail (I know, it's kind of a lame story) but that car is what got me hooked on this hobby. I've been gone for a long time, but I'm back now :)

Unfortunately I haven't heard too many SQ systems, but I enjoyed listening to Markey Dietrich Ford Probe. I heard different versions of it hanging out at finals in KC.

Dave, I don't think that shop is still around, but I used to frequent a similar shop in Amherst (Sound In Motion) routinely. Interesting how small the world is.

Best imaging car I ever heard (and I'm biased here) was the former show car for Team Phoenix Gold/Veritas, the BMW 850CSi of Bill Bibb. Now, Bill was a colossal jerk (spoken as a former employee), but that 850 was amazing. Stage out on the middle of that long sleek hood and went beyond the mirrors and staged accurate in the vertical plane (which is tough to do). It had vintage Altec drivers on the Veritas Aluminum Horns and they made all the difference. Unfortunately, he could never tune it right to get the tonality where it should have been. Those horns were always just a bit too bright, but for imaging, it was amazing.

Hey there! Ya that was a great shop. We may have even met each other at some point...I was at the Damon Rd. Custom Car Sound for a few years.

The best i have ever hear was a morel setup with genesis amps. Dead on spot and as stable as can be. I am installing some blues/ Linear power speakers in my car currently. Going to see what i can get from them.

So I'm new to the SQ world and haven't seen much but I attended my first compitition yesterday in Murfreesboro and I'm hooked. Trying to learn the tricks of the trade and how to tweek my system to get the best sound. I've been getting my work done at Sonus Car Audio in Clarksville TN and they've really helped me get my car where I want it. I run Hertz Hi energy tens in a vented enclosure and Helix Blue series on the interior of the car. Subs powered by and Audison SR1DK and the interiors powered by a Rockford Fosgate Power T400/4. Like I said I'm hooked and look forward to seeing other peoples installs at future comps.

Scott Buwalda's G35. Heard it a month or so ago at an event. Pretty amazing.

You guys in the TN area have it made show wise. Some 2 dozen shows last year if I counted right. There are barely half a dozen here :\
