Happy Holidays to all MECAheads.

As promised, I have the list of 2012 Rule Book revisions. Thanks to everyone who provided input. The list is complete at this time, but we are still open to Member input for these and other issues. The question always comes up: Are These Set In Stone? The answer is: Yes, we feel these are good solutions for the issues we faced. I am satisfied with our revisions on each point, or I would not present them to the club. A lot of thought and discussion has gone into the following report. The biggest changes concern State Championships, and sub-amp power limits in the lower numbered SPL classes: 1's, 2's, and 3's. We are trying to steer the SPL contests in as fair, and affordable direction as possible.
As always, please send any ideas, suggestions, comments, threats, etc. to me and I will review them, and pass on to R&E for consideration.
I hope to have all the 2012 Rule Book posted in early January.
Looking forward to an exciting and fun year with you at our MECA events.
Steve

HERE IS THE LIST:

Sound Pressure League
- In Amateur Street classes, the extra battery size requirements have been better quantified. In AS1 and AS2 classes the maximum size is 650 cubic inches, and in AS3 the maximum size is 800 cu in. This would simply require the measuring of the 3 dimensions, and a little multiplication, and voila, we know whether or not the battery fits.

- There will be a sub-amplifier power limit for the SPL 1, 2, and 3 classes. This is to be limited by the 14.4 volts RMS rating provided by the manufacturer, and the limits are (listed as watts): 1's 1500, 2's 3000, 3's 6000. The Pressure Class Rating Method is still to be used for calculating the class number, and these are limits for qualified Members who want to earn points. This includes all contests and divisions: AS, S, M, and Park & Pound.

- ATC fuses have been removed from the list of permitted fuse types for SPL contests.

- We have clarifications to the SPL rules regarding fuse verification, focused on Finals.

- We have a concise description of Sound Pressure League testing procedures for a 2 day event with classes called for Qualifying on Day #1, and the Finals for the Top 3 in each class on Day #2 (typically Day #1 is Saturday, Day #2 is Sunday). This is new and will be Rule Book page 51.

- Boom & Zoom contests will earn 1X Single Points for Sound Pressure scores.

Sound Quality League
- I am working on a new SQ listening CD from Chesky. As soon as the track order is confirmed, we will revise the rule book for track recommendations with the new CD.
- We are working on better definitions for our SQL classes.
- We have a clarification and revision on RTA Freq Out tie-breaker procedure.

Ride The Light
- We have a new, updated score sheet for RTL contests.

State Champions
- To be a State Champion, MECA Members must attend their State Finals or designated 3X Regional that serves as the State Finals. They must have 20 qualifying points at the conclusion of the contest. In other words, they must be a Member and have attended at least 1 event before the State Finals. We will still have our MECA Points Champions for each state, and Nationals Points Champions, as we've done for many years.

Judge Points
- A Member may earn a maximum of 30 Judge Points in a season. Judge Points are earned when Member helps as judge at a contest, but doesn't compete. Judge takes last place points in class that he/she normally would qualify for.

The biggest problem with the rat race is that even when you win, you're still a rat.

To clarify: the sub-amp RMS rating is provided by the manufacturer and is the 14.4 volts rating. This is for the 1-2-3 classes: AS, S, M, and Park & Pound. The Pressure Class rating method will still be used: woofer cone surface area, and power determined by fusing X 10 = Pressure Class #
